with orchestra arranged and conducted by Kevin Amos Dave Frishberg is best known as the songwriter behind such quirky novelties as "Peel Me A Grape" and "My Attorney Bernie". But he wrote this seasonal song in the Nineties, and Mark loved it from the first time he heard it - especially the line about being "socked in together". The composer and others usually do it with a piano or trio, but Mark and Jessica are backed with what Mark calls "a large small jazz group" that he believes is nevertheless the biggest band ever to record the song. They take it at a romantic and jazzy mid-tempo with plenty of room for solos by Claire McInerney on tenor sax, Pat White on trumpet, Don Richardson on bass and Dan Thomas on guitar. "Snowbound" is also available in old-fashioned CD form on the brand new album Making Spirits Bright. |
