Cat Scratch Fever (Ted Nugent) 2.56
Mark Steyn, vocals
with orchestra arranged and conducted by Kevin Amos
from the album Feline Groovy: Songs for Swingin' Cats
You know you've been waiting for this: Mark Steyn sings Ted Nugent!
What's an easy-listening wimp like Steyn doing with a hard-rockin' classic like "Cat Scratch Fever"? Well, Steyn and Nugent have more in common than you might think. For one thing, they're both Regnery authors. Mark's bestsellers include After America and The [Un]documented Mark Steyn, and Ted Nugent's books for Regnery include Ted, White And Blue and his bestselling cookbook Kill It And Grill It. After Steyn's take on "Cat Scratch Fever", Mark worried that "Kill it and grill it!" might well sum up the Nuge's reaction to it, and him. But in fact Ted liked it:
Precious is as adorable does! The great Czar of commonsense Mark Steyn nails the soulfullness of my classic song! God I love this sh*t! Worth listening to all the way. Killer band! Killer arrangement! Killer attitude!
Ted is too kind, but this version, from Mark's new cat album Feline Groovy, does have a killer trumpet solo by Russell Bennett that you won't want to miss.
